Mean Time

In this game you'll be learning how some words have changed their meanings over time, and thinking about how they might change again in the future.

How it works

• the game generates a series of random words. For each generated word you have to give it a meaning
• once you have given a meaning for a word, then the game will give you the meaning of that word at a particular time in history. Using a drop down menu you now have to identify how the meaning of that word has changed over time. The rating is: the same, slightly different, different and very different
• once you have repeated the first two steps for the other generated words, the game displays the three of the most 'volatile' words ie. Words most likely to change over time, and asks you to give your predicted meaning for those words in 100 years time
• once you click the 'finish' button the game displays the meaning of 3 of the most volatile words and how they have changed over time based on your input. You are able to print your work
